multinotes is a record label created by lehar, musumeci and olderic and it is open to anyone ready to expose their very own musical point of view. this is not a -family-, this is a private club for modern, open minded people ready to challange themselves and the rules of unknown. multinotes first release it comes from the italian close friend and long time producer enzo elia which delivered an intense three tracker ep written together with his mate gianluca tavaroli (imgl).

r&s newcomer karim sahraoui delivers an ep of deep, emotive techno that draws on the rich legacy of detroit while staying relevant for the modern era. sahraoui is a globetrotting seeker of musical truth spending time in malaysia, italy and spain as well as his native france, he recorded in the early 2000s to some acclaim as djinxx, releasing prolifically for delsin, cocoon, f-com bedrock, and ovum amongst others. in 2009 he took a couple of years out from the industry, travelling to malaysia to find himself. in 2011 a chance meeting reconnected sahraoui with derrick may, who he originally met in the late 90s. may was reactivating transmat and persuaded karim to let him release his music, but on the condition it be under his own name. the resulting pair of eternal life eps in 2014 and 2016 marked his rich return to form glorious melodic, contemplative techno in the classic motor city mode. his plenitude ep for r&s builds on similar positive themes - from the percolating arpeggios and mystic melodies of spy of the desert, to the anthemic jazzy techo paen of born again or the aching symphonic build of before the 2nd coming its clear that after decades in the business sahraouis talent is only growing rather than diminishing. i wanted to give it more spirituality, musicality and roots with the choice of the sounds. going back in the past and transcribe everything with visionary fusions, sahraoui explains.

argentinian veteran jorge savoretti has been djing for more than 20 years, and his first release for esperanza records traces back to 2005. in this time laps he has produced 2 albums, 20 eps and a great number of remixes, on labels such as raum musik, visionquest and ilian tape. his debut on cadenza is a crisp breeze of graceful music for dancing. side a starts point-blank with bou gei bouncing shuffle, driving bass line, lively cymbals, sparkling band-passed chords, summing-up jorge s true dedication to nightclubs and nightlife. with no reprieve, ruth suspicious pads lurk behind a funky swinging rhythm spruced up by a continuous surfacing of snare rolls and giggly stabs. on the b side, sensu dub explores without hesitation darker textures and resonances, leaving no concessions to leave the dancefloor. finally u-fonk #04.01 dives into sweating hotblooded late-time hours, with am hypnotising deep-toned coil, soaked of greasy riffs and gloomy fumes.

mark ambrose doubles up on his appearance on was/is with this strident bout of deep end dwellers, kicking off in style with the charged up strut and punchy mono bass of makossa (mix 1) making a point of stepping into a more peak time sound. makossa (mix 2) takes things in a more bugging direction, but there s still plenty of pressure to be felt in the wriggling low end mess and nagging hi hats. the teakup mix of makossa is a devilish broken beat track, and then wagamama slips in a loopy melodic hook and lets a firm but freaky slice of techno roll out underneath

having grown up with and on the internet, martin steer (1986) has transformed its pull into a concept album that is just as immediate and intangible as the digital world. bad stream is guitars and machines vanishing in the spaces between radiohead and nine inch nails only to reemerge amidst ambient, noise, and drone. bad stream, then, is his modus operandi - a hybrid soundtrack to the feelings of resignation, isolation, and cynicism within neoliberal cyberspace and to that strangely numbing comfort of bodies transmuting into zeros and ones in real time.

new clouds material from calum macleod and liam robertson can mean only one thing: these things will go quick, and as you can imagine, you ll want to get them in your dj sets just in time for the nye debauchery. the duo land on british techno imprint overlee assembly, kicking the carnage off with a perc remix of tuned to a dead channel, something of a toxic headbanger with a gnarly bass at its core. this is followed by a much sleeker, more restrained tuned version of chained to a dead channel, and then by a jungle/breakcore driven version from headcore wreckage, and an acid-laden, drum-nutty hardcore tuned again version.

never afraid to get their hands dirty, the frigio faithful have gone crate diving for their latest haul of treasure. the material for ecdisis vol.1? lost tracks from the past, patted down, spruced up and given a couple of shots of whiskey by juanpablo, dunkeltier and, a new member of the family, vinilette. from barcelona, vinilette is a dj and producer who isn t afraid to pull a musical punch or two and she is in fighting form with her two offerings.

first up, the 1986 ebm stomper -god save the king- by son of sam is revamped and reconstructed into a psychedelic rollercoaster of crashing cymbals, spiralling samples and bruising bars. the clock is being turned further back, this time belgium s new wave punk outfit arbeid adelt! are the source material with their 1987 track -help (me ik stik)- muscling up on a diet of raging rhythms and splintering guitar strings. the head honcho, juanpablo, meets up with an old member of the family dunkeltier (aka dj sneaker) to finish our journey. the pair travelling back to 1983 to catalonia and the prog-jazz musings of pegasus. -perseguido por el rayo- is tuned up and transformed into an electronic bomb. addictive grooves and hooks are polished with beats getting a shot in the arm for a hauntingly sinister piece of disco deviance.

bawrut has had an amazing couple of years. since kicking our label off back in 2015 with the modern acid classic ciquita (12inches of which will now set you back silly money on discogs), the madrid-based producer has gone from strength to strength. last year saw him tear down sets at sonar and farr festivals, drop a feted new ep on hard fist records, and have his music soundtrack numerous adverts for fabric events. other djs have been quick to show their appreciation, and bawrut’s unique appeal can be seen in how far and wide across the spectrum his music has featured. optimo, avalon emerson, patrick topping, jackmaster, artwork, andrew weatherall and many more have all supported heavily. were proud to kickstart bawrut’s 2018 with 4x4, a brand new ep of typically leftfield bangers. these four tracks come on like a whirlwind journey through a bawrut dj set, with something for every time of the night. ghettoscar fuses african chants with burbling acid, building the kind of goodtime dancefloor warmth bawrut is famed for. more cowbell does exactly what you’d expect, giving djs a glorious, cowbell-powered disco bomb that fuses the spirit of incredible bongo band with classic nyc house. i hear voices is a crazy ride, with an expertly cut up vocal sample repurposed into a weird, descending riff that’s quite unlike anything else out there. throw in bawrut’s trademark kitbag of carnival whistles, rattling latin percussion and a creeping acid line that works itself up into a soul-salving joy and youve got a modern classic on your hands. finally, lead track three sounds is probably bawruts biggest moment to date, a peak time jacking techno monster built from the most minimal of elements - drums, claps, a one note bass squelch and a tom drum gone wild. bawrut takes this tom sound and treats it like a 303, pushing far off the rails, working it up and up, twisting it through pitch and frequency like a man possessed, raising its pressure til it tears off the roof. theres no one else making techno quite like it - and you can expect dancefloors to be going crazy to the mania of three sounds throughout 2018 so there you have it - four more missives from the wizard of madrid. play em loud.

next cocoon floor bomb! cocoon recordings is back with a bang after the winter break, cranking up the pressure once again. what s more, we re seriously pleased that we ve managed to land johannes volk for the new season. johannes has been making us smile with his productions for more than 12 years and considering his 2006 debut appeared on jeff mills axis label, it s easy to guess which direction his cocoon release is going. there are no dreamy minimal sounds or deep house trips this time round, instead you ll find headstrong techno pumping out of the speakers. tears & walls drives forward relentlessly with its meaty kick and metallic open hi-hats setting the pace. energetic and demanding throughout, johannes volk certainly takes no prisoners! -a little story about time and space- follows in its footsteps although the mood here is notably more detroit, taking us back to productions on cult labels like red planet, metroplex or the axis records sound. volk layers the track with more prominent harmonies and hypnotic arpeggios, giving it a subtle yet highly effective trance touch. the warm analog strings in the middle section underline this emotional impact and make a little story about time and space a guaranteed sunrise song for the upcoming spring and summer season, heartwarming and dance floor friendly in equal measures!

sacred summits returns after a two-year hiatus with an album of interpretations of the music of eric satie by acclaimed composer morgan fisher. active for over 50 years morgans career has moved from 60s number one hit wonders love affair, to 70s rocknroll keyboardist in mott the hoople, before finally on to 80s ambient, improvisation and soundtracks, working with the likes of yoko ono, haroumi hosono and dip in the pool. based in japan since the mid-80s, fishers long-standing admiration for erik satie (1866- 1925) led to these inside satie recordings. satie’s unique work as a precursor to artistic movements such as minimalism, surrealism and repetitive music are acknowledged but for long periods he was not given the accolades his music warranted. a strange, eccentric, surreal man, he was never as acclaimed as the established masters, but influenced not only the likes of debussy but also many of the dada artists. on this album morgan played his music freely after just a brief look at the scores. recorded in just three days, it features piano, melodica, synthesisers, and morgans favoured tape delay system. inside satie is one of the first albums i recorded in japan shortly after moving here in 1985. in three days i improvised on several of my favourite satie themes. mostly i played piano as well as the rich, analog-sounding yamaha gs-1 (precursor of the dx-7), and sometimes used long tape delays to build layers of sound. all the pieces were recorded in single takes no overdubs (no time!).

everything begins with changes, whether you re moving geographically or emotionally. aera’s album „the sound path” tells the story of this sentiment.
born in the high north of germany and now a berlin resident, ralf schmidt aka aera first appeared on the electronic music map when he established his own aleph music label back in 2010. with only a handful of releases, aera was able to lay out his very own musically topography on the cutting edges between house, psychedelia and breakbeats. this colourful mix culminated on his debut album „offseason traveller” in 2013, resonating the past forty years of electronic music, which brought him the attention of a wider audience as well as fellow djs and producers. so it was a logical consequence that his talent also attracted other labels and lead to widely praised releases on innervisions, maeve or john talabot’s hivern discs. with these, aera’s sound bloomed further into bubbly acid and trancey territorries and his fine reputation as a singular producer, travelling dj and remixer flourished. with „the sound path” aera continues his musical travels and permanent vacation is gladly hitchhiking on that ride. his second album is the most coherent and definitely most personal work to date. here, he has perfected his sound even further - adding nuances from the meadows of new age, kraut cliffs and high-flying kites of ambient. complete with the cinematic and nature-esque qualities of ralf’s music, it will draw you in deeply through a great variety of landscapes before your inner eye. however, you’ll never lose track, because this path is beautifully illuminated.

with many writers a theme develops in their works that, over time, reveals color and definition previously unseen, not just a new perspective, but a new understanding. “lofeye” is a concept album and personal testament that philadelphia rapper lojii (fka uhlife) has been piecing together over the last three years, giving only hints with 2015’s no ebola, 2016’s dutti, and 2017’s acclaimed collaborative album due rent with producer swarvy on portland-based imprint fresh selects. in lojii’s own words, “lofeye is about working with limited resources and making the highest quality life out of what the f**k you got. it’s when you’re ‘lo-fi’ by circumstance (not just for aesthetic) but your aim is always higher. in essence, this is an lp about being rooted in the dirt you come from but reaching for the sky above you.”

sunlight by herbie hancockis a 1978 jazz-funk, fusion album. it features hancock’s vocals through a vocoder as well as performances by drummer tony williams and bassist jaco pastorius. this was when hancock began heading towards a more mainstream smooth jazz/r&b fusion, similar to fellow jazz-fusion pianist patrice rushen. the album produced a hit-single entitled “i thought it was you”. as a whole the album tends to lay more toward funk than a jazz record, and is reminiscent of much of the electro-funk of the time. this release marks the beginning of the 80s electro-era style that was more refined in herbie’s later albums such as “future shock” and “sound-system”. pressing on 180 gram audiophile vinyl.

nerangs second time round and this time they have picked up some new family. subjoi, interplanetary criminal, slim hustla and jesse bru. flames that cant be tamed.

star creature continues to break new artists, this time debuting “love’s high” a collaborative european effort featuring israel’s soul supreme and the always fresh kids crew. a side is modern funk dancefloor primed with classic boogie formatted verses & hooks. b side is an uptempo instrumental.

soulquencies is a perfect harmony of deconstructed soundsystem music. beautifully rebuilt with ambient textures, it hints towards grime and steppers while all the time melodious, musical and underpinned with bass weight. it perfectly transcends from clean and heavenly harmonies to bass pressure and grit – icy to warm in a masterful way. this is the first full length album on scrub a dub and we couldn’t be prouder of this piece of music, which is equally at home on a hi-fi or a soundsystem. soulquencies is the brand new album from the artist aquarius, a classically trained musician from tokyo who cut his teeth in the music industry in glasgow in the early noughties. he hosted some of the city’s frst dubstep nights bringing artists like silkie and goth trad, and taking small basement sessions into the bigger clubs, supporting mala at the art school. he played at some of the frst outlook festival parties and was a trusted tour engineer for mungo’s hi fi soundsystem, before returning to tokyo where he distilled his experiences and musical vision into this project.

after the sublime triple 12inch re-issue of the sonar bases 4-10 album on deeptrax records, it s now time for the second installment in the sonar base transmissions series: the album dark matter . all 6 tracks were produced by frank de groodt around 2004/2005 and were only released in the inner circle, never released on vinyl. this mini lp still sounds as fresh as it was produced 13 years ago, experimental on the drums and synths. when listening to sonic discharge and velvet sky of sonar 6 , the link with drexciya is easily made. sonar base takes you further into outer space territory with the dark sounds of polygone suffering and the title track dark matter there is the clear idm feel of tracks like meet you at tower 3 on sonar 7 . dark matter is a hypothetical type of matter distinct from baryonic matter (ordinary matter such as protons and neutrons), neutrinos and dark energy. dark matter has never been directly observed, however, its existence would explain a number of otherwise puzzling astronomical observations the mini lp is limited to 400 black versions and 100 on limited edition purple marbled vinyl, pressed by deepgrooves and fully remastered by thee j johanz. you know the drill!!

the magnetic buzz riddim brings us back to the jamaican early dancehall days where heavy rub a dub riddims used to rule the dance. fruits records studio band the 18th parallel travelled to jamaica and teamed up with reggae greatest bass player robbie shakespeare from famous duet sly & robbie to build the explosive and powerful magnetic buzz riddim. sylvan white, famous for hit songs like africans unite or mountain top recorded in the early 80s, comes back in the business after years off the scene with his beautiful song mother nature. then follows an experimental dub mixed by spanish wizard roberto sánchez featuring robbie’s crazy lead bass line. b side shows for the first time on vinyl record young promising artist from rockfort earth warrior followed by the sweet voice of veteran singer delroy melody whos famous for hit songs from 1980 like ease up the pressure and natty dread she want. heavy maxi 12inch record paying tribute to the early 80s jamaican reggae!

toby tobias has a lengthy history of disturbing the peace. this is his second offering for the esp institute. on side a, second stimulus stirs shimmering staccato chords, roaming pipes and detuned robotic sighs into quite the disorienting stew—the loose arrangement remaining fragmented over 9 minutes of touch-and-go 808 programming, picking up a pseudo bassline assembled from sub toms, introducing a gritty break loop and eventually blissing out into oblivion. with side bs synchro surfer, toby plays with the notion of suspense by gently teasing a muted kick and percussion rhythm under washes of white noise, bleeps and sirens that are tape-dubbed and which, over time, begin a dialogue with each other, as if the machines have declared mutiny on the garage. toby continues to stretch his limits with his output for the esp institute, possibly headed toward a full-fledged devolution of conventional dance music. these two songs may have you arrested for public nuisance.

a timely repress of a true underground club classic and rarity, disco / boogie / funk heads take note. larry wu wedgeworth dropped this sublime piece of boogie in 1984 on the atlantic label and both sides have long been firm favourites with serious soul aficionados for many years. let me show you was one of numerous major label dance records from that golden mid 80s post-disco era that caused a storm in the underground clubs of the day. this one s long been sought after on 12inch and has been bootlegged numerous times, often with inferior sound quality and no care taken, not this time though, this high quality, official, 100% legit reissue has been lovingly remastered by above board distribution in conjunction with atlantic records from the master tapes. beat that. both the original vocal mix and dub version are included here with og atlantic label artwork. dont waste your time on the fakes! this one s the real deal!
